Purchasing and maintaining DVDs is a costly enterprise and now the DVD format itself is on the cusp of becoming obsolete. Not that you won’t be able to continue watching your DVDs for many years into the unforeseeable future – because you absolutely will be able to do this. No one’s quite sure, however, for how much longer DVDs will continue to be made. Blu-ray Discs just offer so much more storage space (five times as much!) and high definition...
Nevertheless, people will continue to buy DVDs and want to back them up in case something happens to the original disc and that is for whom DVD burn software is made.
DVD Fab “DVD to DVD” is part of the DVD Fab family of burning and ripping products. DVD Fab recently launched a new angle on their products – keeping prices the same, but removing all the conversion tools from their DVD burning software and selling them as separate units. I don’t know if that’s going to fly with winning over new customers or not, but that’s how it is now.
You can still download the entire suite of programs for a free 30-day trial period: “DVD to DVD,” “Blu-ray to Blu-ray,” “DVD to Mobile,” “File to Mobile” and “File Mover” are all included in this. So from that point of view, you can at least try them all and decide which you want to pay for after the trial period ends.
Standout Features:
We found DVDFab easy to use and navigate. The interface is uncluttered. The buttons are plainly named and easy to understand. This slimmer, DVD-specific version of DVD Fab is definitely easier to figure out than its predecessor, but the trade-off is functionality and options – you lose some in the translation unless you pony up and pay for the added features that were once bundled all into one program.
If you want a plain, no-frills copy, DVDFab’s default settings work well. If you like to explore and customize copies, aren’t exactly sure which titles to keep, etc., double-click and the selected scenes will appear in the lower left-hand preview screen.
